Avanco is a Brazilian focused exploration and development company listed in December 2007 on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX codes AVB, AVBO and AVBOB). The company is developing the high grade Rio Verde Copper Project and exploring for nickel sulphides at the Touro Nickel Project. Both projects are located in the world class Carajas Mineral Province in northern Brazil.
The Carajas region is by virtue of the known mines and recent discoveries, regarded as one of the most prospective mineral provinces in the world for the discovery of copper-gold and nickel ores. The Company has four Carajas exploration properties and is actively seeking to increase its presence in the region.
RIO VERDE HIGH GRADE COPPER PROJECT
In 2008 Avanco drilled its 100% owned Rio Verde Property in the Carajas. Drill results confirmed the discovery of a significant copper deposit at the Antas South target. The deposit includes an exceptionally high grade copper zone. The Company published a maiden JORC compliant resource for the Antas South deposit in January 2009. Avanco is pursuing development plans to fast track the high grade copper zone into production.
TOURO NICKEL PROJECT
In late 2009 Avanco completed a single drill hole and a program of geochemical and geophysical exploration over its 100% owned Touro Nickel Project which is also located within the Carajas region. Following the very positive results from the aforementioned activities, the company commenced a 2,000m drill program over the Touro Nickel Project during March 2010.
Avanco’s vision is to build a successful mining company through, exploration acquisition and development of its Carajas Projects.
